Empty steel drums are available new, reconditioned, and cleaned. Lid options include fixed bung and open-top. The colour of reconditioned drums may vary, as they are repainted after washing. Reconditioned drums are washed with strong chemicals, and are therefore not suitable for products such as animal feed, nor for the storage of food intended for human consumption.
